RADC Get the Scoop

The Rockford Area Development Corporation has some major accomplishments under its belt:

  • Due to the ongoing issues of adequate and reliable electric power, the RADC infrastructure group contacted Dayton Power and Light with the result that three of their representatives met with county and village officials and RADC members at village hall on October 1 and opened up a dialogue between the groups. Better ways of contacting the company were established. It is the desire of both DP&L and the RADC to continue such meetings into the future to attempt to keep lines of communication more open.
  • Due to concerns about the future of health care in Rockford, members of the RADC met with Mercer Health officials at the Hospital in Coldwater. Later hospital CEO Jim Wermert met with RADC and township officials here in Rockford at village hall. The result is that Dublin, Center, and Hopewell Townships are now a part of the joint township hospital district with board representation. Mercer Health is now legally able to provide medical services and facilities in these townships. Mercer Health is currently researching ways of providing more local healthcare options in Rockford.
  • Concerns about sewage and water situations in Rockford have been addressed by the RADC with the result that some misconceptions have been cleared up, and the RADC is confident that current and proposed systems will allow considerable residential and commercial growth. Some expansion is already starting to appear on the horizon.
  • Through RADC participation in a USDA grant small business program at Lake Campus, contacts were made with Pleasant Dwelling LLC.
  • With RADC funds and involvement, for the first time there is actual commercial site expansion being promoted on the west edge of Rockford. Other expansion projects are in developmental stages that the RADC bas been aware of and is helping to promote.

The challenge is to keep the excitement level high and promote all the good things that Rockford has to offer. At one RADC session we started to name those positive-and it was a very long list. We have the pieces of a challenging puzzle in our hands. With the RADC’s help we will try to put them all together and see what a beautiful picture we can create!
