ROCKFORD AREA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION MINUTES

Gene Steiner reported that the CBDG was seeking information from the village.

Pete reported that Taffi Stober was attending a New School Parent Group for new families moving into the school district. They will receive informational packets with info on the community.

RADC has a post office box and the number is 222. Dan, Bob and Barb will have keys to check the mail.

Twyla gave a report on the 8 Minute Vocation Acceleration which will be held on April 25th.  We would like to see the businesses participate in this event.  The Laurels of Shane Hill will provide water to the speakers.

Rockford Pool – Discussion was held on the revival of the existing pool and also the possibility of a new pool at Shanes Park.  Bill Miller will talk with Fanning and Howey Associates about helping with the design and drawing of a new pool at the park.  Twyla is pulling info together about the cost of running the pool.

Membership Drive – Taffi sent info to the Photo Star and Parkway Independent as well as letters to existing members.

Tom Rogers spoke on the completion of the annexation of 75 acres to the Village of Rockford.  Also the 2009 National Plowing contest will be held in August on Tom’s farm.  Don Hays will be in charge of the National contest.

Business Expo will be held on April 12th, cost is $50.00, Bob Thompson made a motion to have a booth for the RADC and Bill Miller second the motion and the motion passed.  Bill Miller will head up the booth. Bill will check with the marketing committee to do some brochures.  Anyone interested please contact Bill.

Next meeting will be March 20th at 7:30 at the Village Hall.

Broke into work session for the web site, would like to launch it at the business expo.

Gene Steiner made a motion to adjourn and Bob Thompson second the motion. Motion passed.

Four new community businesses were recognized at the 34th Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet on November 1, 2007. Congratulations Mercer Landmark Soybean Extrusion Plant, The Olde Rockford Hardware, Pleasant Dwellings LLC, and the Rockford Carry-out.
